The first Rideau Paddlefest event is being held on Saturday August 16th in Smiths Falls at Lower Reach Park, coinciding with the K2O (Kingston to Ottawa) elite paddling marathon that will run from Sat to Sun, starting in Kingston and ending in Ottawa. Paddlefest is being coordinated through a partnership of key stakeholders: Parks Canada, Rideau Roundtable, Town of Smiths Falls and Smiths Falls Chamber of Commerce and it will celebrate the flat water of the Rideau and the region as a whole.
From Learn to Camp program demonstrations and information that Ontario Parks will be offering, to Voyageur Canoe races in the afternoon with corporate teams racing other corporate teams, to Learn to Fish, Learn to Kayak, paddling demonstrations, canoe and kayak demonstrations and rides, voyageur canoe rides and tours, Reel Paddling International Film festival showings in the Parks Canada visitor centre theatre, live music and a fireworks show, there will a day full of activities and demonstrations for all ages.
We hope that Fish and Game Club might pass along this information to its members and help to create awareness of this family event!
Kind regards,
Jenna Kerr
